Box Score SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster College men's basketball team moved into a tie for second place in the Frontier Conference standings with a 61-54 win over No. 20 Montana State-Northern on Saturday night in the Behnken Field House.

Westminster is now 17-10 overall this season and they improve to 10-4 in Frontier Conference action. They are tied with Montana State-Northern (22-6, 10-4) in the conference race, but tonight's win gives the Griffins a season sweep of the Lights.

It was a defensive battle all night long on Saturday as both teams finished the game shooting below 38 percent. MSU-Northern built a seven points advantage at the 4:20 mark of the first half behind a 16-4 run. Westminster made just 2-of-8 shots during the run with both baskets coming from Blake Skidmore. A Nick Jenson tip-in with two seconds left in the first half cut the Northern lead to 27-24 heading into intermission.

Northern would use a 17-7 advantage early in the second half to open up a 44-33 lead with 12:41 remaining. The 11 points cushion was the Lights largest of the night. Everything would change after that as the Griffins closed the game by outscoring the visitors 28-10. Northern shot 1-of-13 down the stretch and didn't make a field goal over the final 6:02 of the game.

The Griffins were able to get to the foul line during the run where they made 20 of their 21 attempts. Jordan Pryor was perfect on all 10 of his attempts to lead to his 10 points.

Tallon Robertson would finish the game leading all scorers with 16 points. The senior had a tough night shooting the ball as he was just 4-of-13, but he was solid at the stripe where he converted 8-of-9. Robertson would also grab nine rebounds and block two shots in his final regular season home game.

Westminster shot just 35.6 percent from the field for the game and went 3-of-7 (42.9%) from beyond the arc. They had a 22-16 edge in points in the paint and turned 10 offensive rebounds into a 16-5 edge in second chance points. They limited Northern to 37.8 percent shooting and just 6-of-20 (30%) from beyond the arc.

Colton Moon added 10 points and two steals to go with the 10 points from Pryor. Skidmore finished with nine points, all in the first half.

Corbin Pearson led Northern with 13 points and Roshawn West finished with 11.

The Griffins will close out the regular season with a pair of road games next week and they open at Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. MST. Westminster has clinched a home game during the Frontier Conference Tournament and it will take place on either Feb. 28 or Mar. 7.
