SALT LAKE CITY – No. 3 Cal State San Marcos got 30 points from Blake Nash as they rallied for a 72-69 win over No. 15 Westminster in the final game of the Westminster Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday night in the Behnken Field House.

Westminster (2-6) led for much of the first half and a
Quincy Bair steal and dunk with 2:52 to play in the half gave them a 36-24 lead, the largest of the night. Nash, a former Big East Newcomer of the Year, then sparked a 9-3 run by CSU San Marcos (10-0) with a pair of threes and a layup to send the game to intermission with the Griffins leading 39-33.

Jordan Pryor scored seven straight points with two treys of his own early in the second half to put Westminster back in front 49-39 with 15:46 remaining. They would lead 56-49 with just over 10 minutes to play when the visiting Cougars got eight more points from Nash during an 11-0 run that put them in front 60-56 with 7:30 on the clock.

Casey Evans converted an and-one 93 seconds later to put the Griffins back in front. After Dayton Boddie scored in the lane for CSUSM,
Quincy Bair hit a three and Westminster led 65-63 with just over five minute to play. The Cougars closed out the game with nine of the final 13 points with Jacob Andersson knocking down a pair of threes on assists by Nash.
Trevor Bamgartner got a potential tying three away, but it was short and the guests remained perfect on the season.

Westminster finished the game shooting 51.9 percent from the floor and they had a 34-24 edge in points in the paint. The out-rebounded the Cougars, 42-27, and posted 16 assists on 28 field goals. CSUSM shot 42.6 percent from the field with 13 triples and they scored 19 points from 19 Westminster turnovers.

Evans scored a career-high 16 points to lead the Griffins. The sophomore was 7-of-11 from the floor with seven rebounds, two assists three blocks, and one steal. Â Bair finished with 14 points and Pryor added 10, all after halftime.
Kenny Woodard had seven assists and
Nick Jenson pulled 11 rebounds.

Nash scored his 30 points on 10-of-15 shooting and he went 7-of-10 from beyond the arc. He also totaled nine assists and four steals for the Cougars. Andersson scored 12 points on four threes off the bench.

Westminster will have a quick turnaround as they get set to host Saint Katherine College (Calif.) on Wednesday at 6 p.m. MT in the Behnken Field House.
