HAVRE, Mont. – The Westminster women's volleyball team opened its final road trip of the season with a five-set loss at Montana State-Northern on Friday night in a Frontier Conference match at Armory Gymnasium.
The second straight loss for Westminster drops them to 10-14 on the season and 4-7 in the Frontier Conferebce. MSU-Northern improves to 6-19 and 2-10.
Alexis Aalona gave the Griffins a solid performance as she finished with 24 kills and 15 digs for her ninth straight double-double. The senior hit .178 in the match and also had two service aces and two blocks.
Westminster had a 57-48 edge in kills, but the committed 36 hitting errors and only hit .112 in the match. Northern finished the evening hitting .144 and recording eight blocks. The Griffins posted 10 aces, 94 digs and seven blocks in defeat.
Alyse Horton was the only yother Griffin to reach double figures in kills and the junior finished with 10.
Taylor Gustafson handed out 44 assists and
Megan Gallegos totaled a career-high 33 digs.
Dayna Jensen led the Sky Lights with 14 kills and added 18 digs. Taylor Woolman added nine kills and Sarah Stringfellow recorded 20 digs.
Westminster will look to reverse their skid on Saturday when they face Great Falls (Mont.) at 2 p.m. MT at the McLaughlin Center in Great Falls, Mont.
