GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Westminster men's soccer team rallied from a 3-0 halftime deficit to force overtime, but they came up short as Great Falls (Mont.) found an overtime winner to win the game, 4-3.
 
It was all Great Falls (15-2, 5-0 Frontier) in the first half as they jumped out a 3-0 lead just over 30 minutes into the contest. Luis Torres scored two of those goals and assisted on the other that was scored by Jon-Eric Krans.
 
The second half saw the Griffins (8-8-1, 2-3) mount a comeback. They started the rally in the 57th minute when Manuel Duenas found his second goal of the season. Connor Thompson pulled the Griffins within 3-2 with his fourth goal of the season in the 74th minute on an assist by Jacob Smith.
 
Westminster would complete the comeback just over two minutes later when Andrew Clayton tallied his fourth goal of the season for the equalizer at 3-3. The Griffins weren't able to get a point from the rally as Torres finished the game in the 97th minute with the overtime winner to complete the hat trick.
 
Great Falls would finish the contest with a 17-13 edge in shot attempts with the Griffins putting seven of their chances on goal.
 
Taylor Ruff made the start in goal for the Griffins and he allowed three goals with two saves. Logan Butzier came in at halftime and recorded three saves, but allowed the winning goal to get stuck with the loss.
 
The Griffins will close out the regular season on Nov. 2 with a home game against Rocky Mountain (Mont.). The Senior Day contest will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Dumke Field.
