Box Score SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The fourth-ranked Westminster College women's basketball team returned to action after 12 days off and took a 60-52 win over Hope International (Calif.) on Friday night at the Jersey Mike's Classic hosted by The Master's College.
With the game tied at 43-43 with 6:23 remaining in the game, Westminster (7-1) went on a 9-0 run to claim the victory. The Griffins shot 35.1 percent from the field in the game and went 6-of-18 from beyond the arc. They forced Hope International (9-2) into 18 turnovers with 11 steals while holding the Royals to 36.9 percent shooting.
Three Griffins scored in double figures with
Alli Blake leading the way with a season-high 19 points. Blake shot 6-of-16 from the floor and also pulled in a season-best nine rebounds.
Tia Pappas added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the first double-double by a Griffin this season.
Alli Winters went 3-of-4 from beyond the arc to finish with 10 points and improve on her NAIA-leading 3-point percentage.
Brittany Bauman led HIU with 16 points while grabbing six rebounds. Krystyn Jacobs added 12 points and four assists.
Westminster is back in action on Saturday as they close out the Jersey Mike's Classic against 12th-ranked the Master's (Calif.) at 8 p.m. MST.
