Box Score BILLINGS, Mont. – The Westminster College women's soccer team advanced to the championship game of the Unaffiliated Conference Tournament with a 2-0 won over Carroll (Mont.) during Friday's semi-finals.
The third-seeded Griffins got on the board in the 35th minute with a goal from
Nicole Carter. Her ninth goal of the season was her second in as many days. It was also her fourth game-winner of the season and it was assisted by
Tiana Cerciello.
Abigail Black gave Westminster a 2-0 lead when she scored her third goal of the season in the 49th minute. That goal came on an assist from Carter.
Westminster outshot second-seeded Carroll, 15-8, and they put 11 of those attempts on goal. Carter took five shots for the Griffins with
Lexi Tucker getting away three attempts.
Abi Yanke made three saves for her third straight shutout and seventh of the season. She hasn't allowed a goal in 306 minutes and lowered her goals-against-average for the season to 0.56.
Westminster will face top-seeded Rocky Mountain (Mont.) in the championship game on Saturday. The game will be played at Wendy's Field and begin at 11 a.m. MST.
