Box Score SALT LAKE CITY – With four players in double figures the Westminster College women's basketball team cruised to an 84-53 win over third-ranked Westmont (Calif.) on Thursday night in the Behnken Field House.
In a rematch of a classic NAIA National Champions quarterfinal game form last season, No. 5 Westminster (2-0) shot 53.1 percent from the floor and held Westmont (1-1) to just 36.7 percent. The Griffins went 8-of-18 from beyond the arc and tallied 22 assists on 34 field goals with only four turnovers. They had a 27-2 edge in points from turnovers with 30 points in the paint.
Shelby Ellsworth led those four players in double figures with 18 points. She went 8-of-16 from the floor with five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Alli Blake scored 12 points and dished out eight assists with only one turnover.
Alli Winters shot 5-of-5 to score 13 points and
Amy Krommenhoek had 10 points off the bench.
Kelsie Sampson led Westmont with 13 points with her teammate Lauren Sende adding 10.
Westminster will be back in action on Friday when they host College of Idaho at 6 p.m. MST in the Behnken Field House.
