Women’s Soccer Claims 2-0 Shutout at Great Falls

Box Score GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Westminster College women's soccer team remained unbeaten in Frontier Conference play with a 2-0 shutout at Great Falls (Mont.) on Saturday afternoon.

The win moves Westminster to 7-6-2 overall on the season and 2-0-2 in league play. They conclude the conference slate with two games at home the next two Sunday's. Great Falls drops to 2-8-1 and 0-3 in the Frontier with the loss.

Nicole Carter opened the game's scoring in the 27th minute with her sixth goal of the season and second in as many days. Heidi Lorschider tallied the assist on the play for her first career point.

The Griffins would see the lead reach 2-0 in the 28th minute on an own goal from Great Falls. That would be the final goal of the game and it was the first own goal by a Griffin opponent this season.

Westminster took 14 shots in the game with nine of them on goal.  They limited UGF to just three shots with two of them being turned away by Griffin goalie Abi Yanke.  It was forth win of the season for Yanke and her fourth shutout.

The first of the final two Sunday home games comes against Rocky Mountain (Mont.) on Oct. 20. The game from Dumke field will begin at 10 a.m. MDT.
