Box Score BILLINGS, Mont. – The fifth-ranked Westminster College women's basketball team defeated Rocky Mountain (Mont.) 75-39 on Saturday night in the Fortin Center.
Westminster moves to 19-2 overall this season with the win and improves to 8-0 in Frontier Conference play. Rocky Mountain falls to 7-12 and 4-5 with the loss.
The Griffins shot 53.6 percent from the field in the win and recorded 25 assists on their 30 made field goals. They were even better after halftime, shooting 66.7 percent from the floor and outscoring the home squad 49-18. Westminster held a 40-32 edge on the boards and forced Rocky into 20 turnovers and held them to 27.6 percent shooting.
Cydney Tibbitts led all scorers with 16 points while adding six rebounds, six assists and two steals.
Kelsi Wells added 15 points and four assists on a 7-of-8 shooting night.
Brooke Larsen and
Tia Pappas scored nine points apiece with
Nicole Yazzie going for five points, seven rebounds and seven assists.
Brittany Myers led Rocky with 15 points and seven rebounds. Brittany Kumm added 10 points with two treys.
These same two teams will return to the court against each other on Thursday when they tipoff at 5:30 p.m. in the Behnken Field House in Salt Lake City.
