SALT LAKE CITY – The ninth-ranked Westminster College women's basketball team dropped a 66-61 decision against the College of Idaho on Friday night in the Behnken Field House. The game was the final game of the Friday session at the Westminster Fall Classic.
The loss drops Westminster to 2-2 overall this season. It is also the second home loss of the year for the Griffins. They didn't record two home losses until February last season. College of Idaho evens their record at 2-2 with the win.
Westminster shot just 31.6% from the field in the game and connected on just nine of their 29 attempts from beyond the arc. They recorded 10 assists on 18 field goals while only committing 11 turnovers. Westminster held C of I to 41.2% shooting and forced them into 14 turnovers.
Dana Bates was the high scorer for the Griffins with 15 points. She did most of her damage at the foul line where she finished 9-for-11.
Allie Eastman and
Shelby Ellsworth finished with 14 points apiece. Ellsworth recorded her second straight double-double by grabbing 13 rebounds.
Felicity Jones led the Yotes with 18 points including three makes from beyond the arc. Tina Fakahafua added 13 points and five rebounds.
Westminster will conclude the Fall Classic on Saturday when they face La Sierra. The final game of the tournament will begin at 6 p.m. in the Behnken Field House.
