Men’s Soccer Opens Road Trip with a Win

OLATHE, Kan. – The 15th-ranked Westminster men's soccer team opened a three-game road trip with a 4-2 win over MidAmerica Nazarene on Friday evening. All six goals were scored in the second 45 minutes, including four straight by the Griffins. Westminster is now 7-1 on the season and have won six straight.

After playing to a scoreless first half despite MNU being a man down after a red card was issued to Irvin Ignacio for a mistimed tackle in the 31st minute. It looked even worse after Trent Remmich put the home squad in front 1-0 in the 47th minute. Westminster would draw even just one minute later when Wilson Parker tallied the equalizer. Jace Maxfield would make it 2-1 for the Griffins in the 53rd minute. Dennis Sellis would then add two straight goals to put Westminster ahead 4-1 before MNU got a goal from Oumar Seck in the 81st minute.

The game winner by Sellis is his NAIA leading fifth of the season and wit two goals he now has scored seven this season. Maxfield's goal was his second of the year while the Larson tally is his first. Nathan Young picked up the win at goalie with seven saves.

Westminster will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Baldwin City, Kansas for a game with Baker University. The second game of the road trip will begin at 5 p.m.
