Box Score HELENA, Mont. – The Westminster women's basketball clinched at least a share of the Frontier Conference championship with a 71-68 win over Carroll College on Saturday night. No. 11 Westminster is now 23-5 on the season and 12-1 in the Frontier Conference. They have won six straight games and 19 of their last 20.
Westminster trailed 40-30 at the half after watching Carroll shoot 50% from the field. The Griffins then got defensive in the second half, holding the host Saints to just 22.9% shooting and allowing just 28 points. Although they shot just 5-of-15 from beyond the arc, Westminster finished the game shooting 44.9% from the filed.
Nicole Yazzie led all scorers with 27 points on 7-of-13 shooting. She added nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
McKenzie Jessop added 13 points and four rebounds.
Dani Evans had nine points while
Keshia Catten and
Allie Eastman had eight points apiece.
The win sets up a showdown with Lewis-Clark State College on Saturday, February 27 in the Behnken Field House. A Westminster win clinches the conference title outright and home court advantage throughout the conference tournament. A win by LCSC gives them a share of the regular season title and they would get home court throughout the tournament based on tie breakers. The action begins at 5:30 p.m. next Saturday.
