Women’s Soccer Earns 0-0 Tie with No. 17 Carroll College

SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster women's soccer tied No. 17 Carroll College today on Dumke Field. This is the first tie of the season for the Griffins, and snaps a four-game losing streak. Both teams fought through 90 minutes of regulation and two 10 minute overtime sessions, but neither could find the back of the net. Westminster is now 4-7-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the Frontier Conference.

Westminster created several chances for themselves, especially in the second half. Westminster finished with a 16-11 advantage in shots, including a 12-4 edge in the second 45 minutes. Brinna Bennion led the defensive effort in not letting Carroll score. Using her speed Bennion was first to the ball making sure it was safely cleared out of the Griffins defensive half. Lindsay Bekken recorded seven saves while earning her first career shutout.

Westminster is off for almost two weeks, returning to action on October 3rd. That is when they will take on Rocky Mountain College on Dumke Field at 1:00 p.m.
