SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's volleyball team rode the shoulders of their outside hitters to take a 3-0 win over Great Falls on Saturday afternoon.
Talita Kresser and
Ericka Evans combined for 33 of the team's 41 kills in the 25-21, 25-22, 28-26 victory. The win improves the Griffins to 6-10 overall and 3-1 in the Frontier Conference.
The Griffins hit .278 in the first set while opening up 17-12 lead. Set two saw the Griffins take the lead at 10-9 and never look back taking a 2-0 lead in the match. They hit .214 in set two with 13 kills. The third set was a battle that saw the Griffins fight off set point twice. Westminster came back from down 24-23 and 25-24 to take the victory.
Westminster hit .221 in the match while holding Great Falls to just .124. The Griffins were led by 18 kills from Kresser. She also hit .400 in the match to follow up a .550 from Thursday's match.
Ericka Evans added 15 kills and hit .295.
Tahnie Blymiller controlled the back line with 25 digs.
Next up for the Griffins is a September 25 match at Lewis-Clark State in Lewiston, Idaho.
