SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's volleyball team defeated Montana State-Northern 3-0 in their first home match of the season on Thursday night. They Griffins totaled 41 kills while holding Northern to just 20 in the 25-16, 25-16, 25-14 victory. With the win, Westminster improves to 5-10 on the season and 2-1 in the Frontier Conference.

Westminster hit .256 in set one, recording 15 kills. They opened the set with a 5-0 run and never looked back. Set two was much of the same with the Griffins opening a 10-5 lead en route to the win. They hit .306 in set two with 13 kills and only two errors. The third set saw the Griffins turn a 3-3 ties into a 15-8 lead before coasting to the win.

Talita Kresser came up big with 12 kills and 13 digs. She finished the match hitting .550 and added three blocks. Ericka Evans added eight kills with zero hitting errors and nine digs. Westminster hit .284 in the match and held the Sky Lights to .000, forcing them into 20 hitting errors. The Griffins also took advantage of nine service aces and 50 digs. Megan Evans had three aces, 22 assists, and five digs. Tahnie Blymiller recorded 11 digs at libero.

Kaylee Bossert led Northern with six kills and five blocks. Taya Tokarski had 14 digs and four kills in defeat. The loss drops MSU-Northern to 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

Westminster returns to action on Saturday, September 19 when they host Great Falls. First serve in the Behnken Field House is at 2:00 p.m.
