Women’s Soccer Falls 4-0 at Southern Utah

Lindsay Bekken recorded a career-high 10 saves against Southern Utah on Wednesday.

CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Westminster women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision against Southern Utah in Cedar City on Wednesday evening. The loss drops Westminster to 0-5 against teams from Utah all-time, including 0-3 this season. They are now 4-6 overall in 2009.

Southern Utah took a 1-0 lead on a Michelle Judd goal in the 11th minute. Laura Goodrich made it 2-0 in the 12th minute. Makell Southworth and Shelby Ostler also struck in the first half for the final 4-0 margin.

Westminster managed just six shots in the game to 22 by Southern Utah. Vanessa Jordan and Nicole Taylor had two shots apiece with Jordan putting both of hers on frame. Lindsay Bekken played a solid second half in goal, recording 10 saves and not allowing a goal. The 10 saves is a career high and the most by a Griffin keeper since 2007.

Westminster is back in action on Friday, September 18 when they host No. 15 The Master's College at 3:30 p.m. on Dumke Field. The Griffins will be looking for a second consecutive win over a nationally ranked team.
