Box Score SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's basketball team used a 25-2 run to open the game to put away Great Falls early en route to a 78-48 win on Thursday night. No. 17 Westminster (18-5, 8-0 Frontier) picked up a ninth straight win in the game behind 46.8% shooting, including a scorching 55.6% in the first 20 minutes.
Dani Evans had 17 points in just eight first half minutes to spark the 51-17 halftime advantage.
Evans finished the night with a career high 20 points, making 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. She also had three steals and two offensive rebounds and led the Westminster 39-26 bench point advantage.
Alexis Tucker finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds, her second double-double of the year.
Shannon Evans added 11 points and six steals.
Westminster had a 34-20 advantage in points in the paint and turned 27 Great Falls turnovers into 31 points.
Candace Smith had six points and five rebounds in 10 minutes. The Griffins held Great Falls to just 33.3% shooting and only 25.0% in the first half.
Great Falls (7-16, 1-7) was led by eight bench points from Ashley Stephen. Marisa Francis and Kassie Holmlund each scored six points and Jocelyn Moore grabbed a team high eight rebounds.
Westminster returns to action on Saturday, February 7 when they host No. 25 Montana State-Northern. That is game part of the “Bring a Girl to the Game” day and begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Behnken Field House.
