The Westminster women's basketball team returns to the Behnken Field House for three games this weekend. The action begins on Thursday, December 3 as the Griffins host Northern New Mexico at 6:00 p.m. On Friday, December 4, Westminster will host San Diego Christian at 6:00 p.m. following a game between Rocky Mountain and Northern New Mexico. The weekend concludes on Saturday, December 5 at 4:00 p.m. as the Griffins face Northern New Mexico for a second time. Rocky and San Diego Christian will play at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Westminster returns home with a 6-4 overall record and winner of two straight. They claimed victories against Evergreen State and Northwest (Wash.) last weekend at the Evergreen State Thanksgiving Tournament. The team has gone 1-2 at home so far this season with both losses coming against a ranked opponent.
The Griffins have made 99 three-pointers this season to lead the nation. They also rank second nationally with 162 total assists. The team is averaging 78.9 points per game while shooting 49.8% from the floor. Defensively they allow 73.5 points per game and the opposition is shooting 45.8%. With 10.8 steals per game, the Griffins rank 41st in the NAIA.
Allie Eastman currently leads the team in scoring with 131 points. Her 13.1 points per game is fifth in the Frontier Conference and she is fifth in 3-point field goal percentage at 44.4%.
Nicole Yazzie leads the conference with 22 makes from beyond the arc and fourth on the team with 116 points. She has led the team in scoring three times this season.
