The No. 9 Westminster men's basketball team welcomes St. Thomas (Fla.) to the Behnken Field House for two games. The first game is on Friday, December 4 at 8:00 p.m. and is followed on Saturday, December 5 at 6:00 p.m. Both games follow a game featuring the Westminster women's basketball team.
Westminster enters the two-game weekend with a 4-4 overall record and 2-2 at home this season. They split two games during the Thanksgiving Classic last weekend, losing to the College of Idaho and defeating Westmont. The two home losses is already more than they had all of last season in 14 games.
The Griffins are averaging 71.6 points per game through the first eight games and are shooting 45.2% from the field. They are second in the Frontier Conference by holding opponents to just 40.9% shooting and are also second in scoring defense, limiting opponents to just 66.9 points per game. The Griffins average 37.4 rebounds a night to rank third in the Frontier Conference and rank 19th nationally by shooting 72.6% from the foul line.
Blair Prowse is scoring 16.6 points per game to lead all players. He also leads the team with 16 steals and 23 makes from 3-point territory. Prowse is second on the team with 42 rebounds.
Weston Anderson is second on the team at 16 points per game and is tops on the squad with 30 assists.
Ben Walker averages 13.6 points per game and is the leader with 53 rebounds.
