SALT LAKE CITY – With the 2009 regular season over, the Westminster women's volleyball team is headed to the Frontier Conference Tournament. Westminster finished the conference season at 6-8 and earned the fifth seed for the tournament. They will face the fourth-seeded Rocky Mountain College in the opening round of the event on Friday, November 13 at 2:00 p.m.
Westminster went 0-2 against Rocky this season, including a 3-1 loss this past Saturday in the Behnken Field House. The Griffins are 7-4 against Rocky since 2005, but they have lost the last four meetings.
The winner of this match will face the winner of the Great Falls versus Montana Western match on Saturday, November 14, at 11:00 a.m. The championship match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night. All matches will be played at the Lewiston Activity Center on the campus of Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho.
The Frontier Conference tournament champion earns a spot in the 36-team NAIA national tournament. The top 12 teams in the tournament get byes, while the remaining 24 teams will play in 12 first-round matches at host sites.
The regular season ended with a three-way tie for first place between Lewis-Clark State, Carroll College and Great Falls. The three teams tied for the regular-season conference title with 11-3 league marks.
According to the conference tiebreaker, the first step is head-to-head competition, but all three split during the regular season to leave them with 1-1 records.
The next tiebreaker is how each team did against the fourth-place team and down the line. Both Lewis-Clark and Carroll split against Rocky Mountain, which finished fourth, but Great Falls swept Rocky Mountain. Thus, Great Falls was awarded the top seed.

Match 2: 2 p.m.: No. 4 Rocky Mountain (8-6, 19-10) vs. No. 5 Westminster College (6-8, 9-19)
Match 3: 6 p.m.: No. 2 Lewis-Clark (11-3, 20-7) vs. No. 7 Montana State-Northern (4-10, 7-13)
Match 4: 8 p.m.: No. 3 Carroll College (11-3, 25-8) vs. No. 6 Montana Tech (5-9, 11-16)
