BILLINGS, Mont. – The Westminster women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at Rocky Mountain College on Saturday afternoon. Westminster struggled offensively and hit just .066 in the 17-25, 22-25, 23-25 loss. The third consecutive loss by the Griffins drops them to 6-13 on the season and 3-4 in the Frontier Conference.
Westminster finished the match with just 33 kills and had 23 hitting errors.
Talita Kresser led the team with 10 kills and added three service aces.
Ericka Evans chipped in nine kills and the Griffins got five kills apiece from
Becky Burke and Stephanie Jones. Four players had double-digit dig totals for Westminster, led by 23 from
Tahnie Blymiller. This was her fourth straight 20-plus dig match, and fifth in the last six matches.
Evans and Blymiller also reached personal milestones in this match. With her fourth kill of the night, Evans reached 500 for her career, becoming just the fourth Griffin to reach that milestone. She finished the day with 505 career kills. Blymiller reached the 1,000-career dig level when the recorded her 22nd dig in the match. She becomes just the second player at Westminster to reach 1,000 career digs, joining Bree Riet in the category.
Westminster is back in action on October 9 when they step out of conference to visit Brigham Young-Hawaii in Laie, Hawaii. The Griffins will also face Chaminade on October 10 in Honolulu, Hawaii as part of the trip.
