Box Score HELENA, Mont. – The Westminster women's soccer team saw a 1-0 halftime lead vanish as Carroll scored twice in the second half for a 2-1 win. Westminster could have clinched the Frontier Conference championship with a win, but now must hope for a Carroll loss at Great Falls next week for a share of the title. Westminster concludes the regular season at 8-9-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the conference.
Corie Walch put Westminster ahead 1-0 in the 19th minute as she finished a
Nicole Taylor pass. Westminster maintained that advantage until the 69th minute when Meghan O'Connell scored for Carroll. O'Connell then assisted a Laura Maddock goal in the 82nd minute to give Carroll the win.
Westminster attempted five shots in the contest, including four in the second 45 minutes, and put three of those attempts of goal.
Rachel Watson had two shots and was the only Griffin with more than one shot in the game.
Dayna Winter-Nolte made five saves in goal for the Griffins.
Westminster will now wait to see if they qualify for one of three at-large invites into the Unaffiliated Conference Tournament. The six-team bracket will be played in Dallas, Texas between teams from the Frontier, Dakota Athletic, and Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conferences on November 13-15.
