Box Score SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's basketball team used a solid effort on both ends of the court to build a 45-24 halftime advantage against Montana Western on Saturday night. Westminster (14-5, 4-0 Frontier) held Western without a field goal for 14 minutes and went on a 30-10 run over that span. The Griffins shot 53.7 percent for the game and came away with the 83-56 win, their fifth straight.
Elisa Leader led the way with 23 points connecting on 8-of-14 shots, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc.
Alexis Tucker was the only other Griffin in double figures as she scored 11 points. Westminster forced 24 turnovers and turned them into 33 points. They also posted a 34-14 advantage in the paint.
McKenzie Jessop had a nice game off the bench with nine points and six rebounds.
Mara Hoskins added seven points and five rebounds as the Westminster bench totaled 35 points to just 12 from the Western reserves.
Jamie Lake led Montana Western (5-13, 1-3 Frontier) with 17 points and eight rebounds. She was 9-of-11 at the charity stripe and recorded four steals.
No. 20 Westminster will head back to the road for a game against Carroll College on Thursday, January 22. Tipoff is at 6:00 p.m. in Helena, Montana.
