Geoff Payne led all players with 15 points in helping Westminster to a 93-61 win over San Diego Christian on Friday night. Westminster opened the game on a 16-4 run and never looked back. The 13th-ranked Griffins improve to 3-0 on the season while San Diego Christian falls to 0-1.
Westminster had 11 players score and shot 60.4 percent from the field.
Jordan Jacobs scored 11 points and shot 3-of-5 from 3-point range to go with four assists and zero turnovers. As a team, Westminster only committed 10 turnovers while forcing San Diego Christian into 21. Westminster scored 32 points off those 21 turnovers.
Blair Prowse scored 11 points in his season debut after missing the opening two games with an ankle injury. Prowse played just 10 minutes and also had two assists, one block, and one steal.
Conner Nielsen went 4-for-4 from the field and scored 11 points in all off the bench. Westminster held a 48-25 advantage in bench scoring and dominated the paint 46-30.
Michael Stewart led San Diego Christian with 10 points in eight minutes off the bench. The Hawks shot just 39.3 percent from the field and were only 4-of-15 from 3-point territory. San Diego Christian out-rebounded Westminster 34-32 and pulled down 10 offensive rebounds.
Westminster returns to action on Saturday, November 8 when they host 17th-ranked Azusa Pacific. That game will tipoff at 7:30 p.m. in the Behnken Field House.
