Box Score DILLON, Mont. – Westminster opened the 2008-09 season with a 59-56 win over Dickinson State on Friday night. Westminster shot 40.9 percent from the floor and went 4-for-9 from long range, all while holding Dickinson State to just 32.7 percent shooting. Westminster now sits at 1-0 on the season and have now gone 9-1 in season openers all-time. Dickinson State drops to 0-1 on the season.

Geoff Payne went for 20 points in his Griffin debut. He finished the night 7-of-15 from the floor and grabbed five rebounds. Jordan Jacobs added 12 points, including three makes from distance. Danny Stosich pulled a team-best eight rebounds, but scored just two points.

Westminster held a 32-30 advantage at the half. Dickinson State used solid defense to stay in the game, forcing the 13th-ranked Griffins into 23 turnovers. Nathan Lebsock and Sean Burnham each scored 12 points to lead Dickinson State.

Westminster will next face Golden State Baptist on Saturday, November 1. That game will be in Dillon, Montana and begin at 4:00 p.m.
