Box Score SALT LAKE CITY - It was a crazy night for the Westminster Griffins as they dropped a five-set thriller with Rocky Mountain College on Thursday evening. After dropping the first two sets, Westminster rallied for wins in the third and fourth before losing the fifth. The Griffins fall to 3-10 on the season and 3-3 in Frontier Conference action.
Rocky Mountain improved to 10-5 overall and 5-1 in the conference with the 27-25, 25-14, 23-25, 23-25, 15-11 win.
Westminster came out of the intermission on fire and jumped out to an quick seven point lead. Rocky rallied back to cut the Griffin lead to 24-23 when Westminster outside hitter
Janelle Kendall injured her knee and left the match. Kendall had nine kills and 10 digs prior to the injury.
Ali Culp led all Griffins with her 17 kills. She also put up 16 digs and two service aces. As a team the Griffins had 93 digs, by far a season high. Libero
Whitney Adams set a career high with 28 digs.
Ericka Evans and
Brittani Barton each had 11 kills. Evans added 17 digs.
Leigha Dangerfield dished out 43 assists to go with her 13 digs.
Westminster returns to the Behnken Field House on Saturday, October 4 when they host Carroll College. First serve is at 2:00 p.m.
