Joe Kerwin was named Assistant Athletic Director at Westminster University in July 2025 after nine years on the Griffins men’s lacrosse staff. In his role, he supports strategic planning, special projects, and the continued growth of Westminster Athletics.
Kerwin served as head men’s lacrosse coach from 2020–2025, leading the Griffins to RMAC Regular Season titles in 2022 and 2024, the 2021 RMAC Tournament Championship, and the program’s first USILA All-Region selections in 2024. He was named RMAC Coach of the Year in 2023. Before that, he spent four years as an assistant coach, helping Westminster to its first RMAC title and undefeated league season in 2019.
Prior to Westminster, Kerwin was head coach at Bend High School (2012–16), where he was twice named Conference Coach of the Year, 2015 Oregon High School Coach of the Year, and inducted into the US Lacrosse (Oregon) Hall of Fame. He also led the University of Oregon to an 86-30 record over eight seasons, earning 2007 MCLA Coach of the Year honors and later induction into the Oregon Lacrosse Hall of Fame. At the NCAA level, Kerwin guided Notre Dame de Namur to a 16-6 record from 2007–09.
A native of Chatham, N.J., Kerwin holds a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems from Roger Williams University. He lives in Salt Lake City with his wife, Rachel.
