A human performance leader and practitioner for 20 years, Josh Bullock has served students and athletes across four National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) institutions and one National Governing Body (NGB).
Josh, in his capacity as an athletic development coordinator at U.S. Ski & Snowboard, played a pivotal role in preparing the U.S. Freestyle Mogul Team for the Winter Olympic Games in 2018 and 2022. His expertise was particularly valuable in the rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletes with lower extremity injuries. In addition to these responsibilities, Josh also spearheaded business development strategies, partner acquisition, and community learning initiatives between performance partners and key stakeholders.
Over the course of 14 years, Josh has held the positions of performance director and head coach at four NCAA institutions and one private educational academy. In these roles, he was tasked with designing and implementing comprehensive, applied wellness and performance strategies that aligned with the institutional and departmental mission, vision, and values. The departments under his leadership spanned over 10,000 athletes, 300 coaches, and 25 sports, underscoring his ability to manage large teams and deliver on organizational goals.
Beyond performance coaching, Josh has a deep-rooted passion for teaching. During his 20-year career, he has taught several sports performance and management courses in higher education. He continues to serve as a faculty member at Kentucky Wesleyan College.
Josh’s scholarship is in the fields of kinesiology and management. As a well-sought-after author, Josh has presented to local, regional, state, and national audiences on sports performance and management. Additionally, Josh has authored over 30 articles, including the first of its kind text, Sport Demands Analysis of Freestyle Mogul Skiing. This book contains original research on the sport and applies this research to drive performance outcomes over time.
Josh received a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in Physical Education from the University of Redlands in 1999, a Master’s degree in Management from the University of Redlands in 2011, a Master’s degree in Kinesiology from Fresno Pacific University in 2012, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate studying Kinesiology/Exercise Science at Concordia—St. Paul. Josh is a member of the prestigious Whitehead Leadership Society at the University of Redlands.
