Honors and Accolades
- WC Dean's List

2020-21 (COVID-19) - Freshman
- Appeared in 12 matches as a true freshman, finishing second on the team with 153 kills (2.13 k/s) with a .254 hitting percentage.
- Racked up 12 kills on 34 attacks (.324) in her collegiate debut vs. UCCS.
- Had five matches with double-digit kills including a season-high 15 kills with a .368 hitting percentage vs. Adams State.

Before Westminster College
- Committed to Westminster College in June of 2019 after attending New Smyrna Beach High School in Florida.
- At New Smyrna Beach HS, she was a four-time honor roll student and a three-year varsity letter-winner in volleyball.
- Played club volleyball for the DME Academy for coach Alvaro Sanchez.

Personal
- Born April 22, 2002.
- Daughter of Garret and Stephanie Messner.
- Has one sister, Morgan, and one brother, Mckay Messner.
- She was also a letterwinner in cheer, beach volleyball, flag football, and a two-time letterwinner in basketball while in high school.
- Her favorite professional athlete is her former club coach, Alvaro Sanchez.
-  Malinda is an all-around athlete, but only started playing as a freshman in high school and spent time on the bench as she learned the game before eventually winning three varsity letters and becoming a team captain her senior year. 
- Participated in special Olympics in high school, helping kids with disabilites to become more involved in a variety of sports.
- Malinda's great grandfather, George Marquardt, was the pilot of the infamous Boeing B-29 "Enola Gay" that was involved in the bombing of Hiroshima in WWII.
