Matt Smidt enters his third season as a Griffins' assistant. Smidt, who helped steer Sean Edwards to RMAC Goalie of the Year honors in 2019, was a four-year letter winner and three-time Academic All-Big 10 honoree while playing goalie at The Ohio State University.
As a Buckeye, Smidt held a .550 career save percentage in net with a career-high 15 saves as a senior to hold 20th-ranked Boston University to just a single first-half goal. Smidt was a member of the Buckeyes' 2017 squad that made a run to the NCAA Championship.
Smidt, who graduated from Ohio State with a degree in biology, is now a fourth-year dental student at the Roseman College of Dental Medicine.
