Joe Kerwin

Joe Kerwin enters his fifth season as the Head Coach of Westminster University Men’s Lacrosse in 2024-25, having spent the past nine years with the program. Since taking over in 2020, Kerwin has led Westminster to multiple RMAC Championships and continued the program’s success. In 2024, Westminster had its first-ever USILA All-Region selections, with Merritt McMahon, Tim McGuire, and Camden Rossi earning the honor. Kerwin was named RMAC Coach of the Year in 2023 after guiding the Griffins to their eighth consecutive RMAC Championship game appearance.

Before becoming head coach, Kerwin served as an assistant at Westminster from 2016-2020, playing a key role in the program’s development. During this time, he helped lead Westminster to its first RMAC Championship in 2019 with an unbeaten conference record. He was instrumental in the team’s offensive growth and player development, laying the foundation for the program’s sustained success.

Kerwin arrived at Westminster after serving as Head Coach at Bend High School in Oregon from 2012-2016, where he was named Oregon High School Coach of the Year in 2015. His impact on the sport in the region was later recognized with his induction into the US Lacrosse - Oregon Chapter Hall of Fame in 2019.
His collegiate coaching career began at the University of Oregon, where he was an assistant coach from 2003-2007. He then took over as Head Coach at Notre Dame de Namur University, where his program twice led the nation in scoring. In 2007, he was named MCLA Coach of the Year. Kerwin later returned to Oregon as Head Coach from 2009-2012, leading the Ducks to an 86-30 record and two national scoring titles. His contributions to the program were recognized with his induction into the University of Oregon Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2019.
A native of Chatham, N.J., Kerwin earned his bachelor's degree in Information Systems from Roger Williams University. He now resides in Salt Lake City with his wife, Rachel.
