Casey Stanley enters his first season as head coach of the Westminster men's basketball program, bringing 18 years of collegiate and national prep coaching experience to the Griffins, including 15 seasons at the NCAA Division I level.
Most recently, Stanley served as Head Coach and National Prep Program Director at Layton Christian Academy (2023-present), where he compiled a 66-20 (.767) record and built the program into a nationally ranked Top 50 prep destination. During his tenure, he placed 20 student-athletes into NCAA Division I, II, NAIA, and JUCO programs in two years, developed international recruiting pipelines generating approximately $1 million in annual tuition impact, and negotiated a multi-year Adidas partnership for the entire athletic department.
Stanley's extensive Division I résumé includes two stints at Arkansas State (2017-20, 2022-23) under head coach Mike Balado, where he recruited the 2019 Sun Belt Freshman of the Year and helped improve the program's academic standing. He also spent two separate periods at his alma mater, Iona University — first as Director of Basketball Operations (2007-10), then as an assistant coach (2020-22) under legendary Hall of Fame coach Rick Pitino. In his most recent stint at Iona, Stanley helped guide the Gaels to a 25-8 record, a regular season title, and the 2021 MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament berth.
Prior to his return to Iona, Stanley spent three seasons (2014-17) as an assistant coach at UNC-Wilmington under Kevin Keatts, helping lead the Seahawks to two NCAA Tournament appearances. His Division I coaching journey also includes stops at the University of Minnesota (2013-14) as video coordinator, Florida International University (2012-13) as assistant coach, the University of Louisville (2011-12) as video coordinator under Rick Pitino, and Seton Hall University (2010-11) as Coordinator of Basketball Operations.
Throughout his Division I career, Stanley has coached seven NBA players and 31 international professionals.
A Westchester, New York native, Stanley earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Iona University in 2008. He and his family grew up around the Gaels program, with his father, Gary, serving as a longtime Iona radio announcer.
