Griffins Rout Jamestown 4-0 for First Win of the Season

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Westminster men's soccer team picked up its first win of the 2026 season, downing Jamestown 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at Dumke Field. The Griffins dominated from start to finish, out-shooting the Jimmies 20-5 and getting goals from four different players.

Game Breakdown

First Half

Westminster controlled play from the opening whistle, putting seven shots on frame in the first 45 minutes to Jamestown's two. George Acurero and Owen Gallo each tested Jamestown goalkeeper Valon Ismaili multiple times early, but the Griffins couldn't find the breakthrough until the 38th minute, when Max Edwards buried his second goal of the season off an assist from Gallo to give Westminster a 1-0 lead heading into the break.

Second Half

The Griffins turned it on after halftime, adding three more goals over the final 45 minutes while limiting Jamestown to just three shots. Owen Gallo extended the lead to 2-0 in the 55th minute, finishing off an assist from George Acurero. Parker Stebbing made it 3-0 in the 83rd minute with a goal assisted by Ben Kump, and Kump added an unassisted goal of his own in the 87th minute to cap the scoring at 4-0. Westminster out-shot Jamestown 13-3 in the second half alone, finishing the match with a commanding 20-5 shot advantage and a 15-1 edge in shots on goal.

  • Owen Gallo recorded a goal and an assist, finishing with four shots (two on target)

  • Max Edwards scored his second goal of the season, adding three shots on goal

  • Ben Kump contributed a goal and an assist off the bench

  • Parker Stebbing scored his first goal of the season

  • George Acurero and Cole Williams each fired four shots and led the team with three shots on target apiece; Acurero also added an assist

  • Oliver Olsen earned the win in goal, making one save to secure the shutout
