Griffins Rally Late to Upset Colorado School of Mines on the Road


GOLDEN, Colo. – The Westminster women's basketball team closed out its road trip with a win Saturday afternoon, defeating Colorado School of Mines 73–69 at Lockridge Arena in RMAC play.

The Griffins trailed after the opening quarter but used a strong fourth-quarter push and timely free-throw shooting down the stretch to secure the road victory.


Game Breakdown

First Half
Mines opened the game with a 22–14 first-quarter advantage, but Westminster responded in the second, outscoring the Orediggers 20–12 to pull within 34–34 at halftime.

Second Half
Both teams traded baskets in the third quarter, with Mines holding a narrow 49–47 lead entering the final period. Westminster delivered its strongest stretch in the fourth, scoring 26 points while limiting Mines to 20, taking the lead late and closing out the 73–69 win.


Griffin Performances

Madison Anderson led all scorers with 26 points on 10–17 shooting, adding 14 rebounds. Teuila Nawahine followed with 20 points and a team-high 12 rebounds, while also recording 3 assists, a block, and a steal.

Ellie Mitchell finished with 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals while playing 40 minutes, and Emily Evans added 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Klowie Pike contributed 6 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds, and Nisa Ellis chipped in 4 points off the bench.

Westminster shot 41.7% (30–72) from the field and 69.2% (9–13) at the free-throw line. The Griffins won the rebounding battle 51–31, scored 46 points in the paint, and recorded 18 second-chance points.
