GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Westminster women's basketball team continued RMAC play Thursday night, falling 74–43 to Colorado Mesa at Brownson Arena.
The Griffins faced a nationally ranked Mesa squad and battled throughout the opening quarter before the Mavericks built separation with consistent scoring across all four periods.
Game Breakdown
First Half
Westminster opened the game with 13 points in the first quarter and trailed 22–13 after ten minutes. Colorado Mesa extended its lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Griffins 22–9 to take a 44–22 advantage into halftime.
Second Half
Mesa continued to control the pace in the third quarter with a 19–5 run. Westminster responded with its best offensive stretch of the night in the fourth, scoring 16 points, but the Mavericks closed out the contest to secure the 74–43 win.
Griffin Performances
Teuila Nawahine led Westminster with 12 points, shooting 5–11 from the field and 1–1 from three. Klowie Pike added 8 points and 6 rebounds, while Achol Daw and Nisa Ellis each finished with 5 points. Madison Anderson pulled down 6 rebounds, and Ellie Mitchell added 5 boards with 2 steals.
Westminster finished the night shooting 28.1% (16–57) from the field and 6.7% (1–15) from three while collecting 31 rebounds and scoring 21 bench points. The Griffins added 24 points in the paint and 14 fast-break points.
Colorado Mesa was led by Olivia Reed's 24 points and 19 rebounds, shooting 9–14 from the floor. The Mavericks finished at 40.3% shooting and held a 56–31 rebounding advantage.
