DURANGO, Colo. — Westminster women's basketball closed its RMAC road trip Saturday afternoon with a 72–53 loss to Fort Lewis at Whalen Gymnasium.
The Griffins trailed 15–11 after the first quarter and 34–20 at halftime before responding with their strongest stretch in the third quarter, outscoring Fort Lewis 18–15. The Skyhawks pulled away in the fourth, scoring 23 points to seal the win.
Ellie Mitchell and Madison Anderson led Westminster with 14 points apiece. Mitchell added 4 steals and 3 rebounds in 39 minutes, while Anderson finished with 4 rebounds and went 5–12 from the field and 4–5 at the free-throw line. Klowie Pike scored 8 points with 4 rebounds and 2 steals, and Makeili Ika added 5 points.
Teuila Nawahine contributed 6 rebounds and 4 assists, and Emily Evans pulled down a team-high 8 rebounds while adding 3 points, a block, and 2 steals. Nisa Ellis chipped in 4 points off the bench.
Westminster finished 20–63 (31.7%) from the field and 4–17 (23.5%) from three while collecting 37 rebounds and scoring 18 second-chance points. The Griffins produced 16 points off turnovers and 30 points in the paint.
Fort Lewis shot 40.7% (24–59) from the field and 42.9% (9–21) from three, led by Katie Lamb's 16 points and Makaya Porter's 14.
Westminster (3–9, 0–6 RMAC) continues conference play next week.
