Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Griffins Split Matches at Hampton Inn Nighthawks Classic

Game 1 – Thursday vs. Seattle Pacific University

After a six-hour bus ride to Nampa, Idaho, Westminster Volleyball entered the Nighthawks Classic with redemption on their minds. Their opening match was a rematch against Seattle Pacific University — the team that had handed them a tough loss just a week earlier at the Monterey Bay Tournament. This time, the Griffins made sure the outcome was different.

From the opening serve, Westminster set the tone, playing with urgency and grit to claim the first set 25–22. The second set saw a dip in energy, and the Griffins fell 14–25, giving Seattle Pacific momentum. But Westminster responded immediately, flipping the switch and taking control. Behind confident swings and a relentless attack, the Griffins dominated the next two sets 25–17 and 25–14 to secure the 3–1 victory.

Sadie Parrish led the offense with 14 kills, while Hailey Killett added 12 to keep the attack balanced. In the back row, Ava Livolsi anchored the defense with a match-high 30 digs, shutting down Seattle Pacific's rhythm.

Game 2 – Friday vs. Concordia University Irvine

Friday's contest put Westminster up against their toughest preseason opponent yet in Concordia University Irvine. The Golden Eagles showed why they are considered a powerhouse, taking the match in straight sets with scores of 25–18, 25–22, and 25–19.

The Griffins battled hard throughout, going point-for-point and refusing to back down. Josie Gerritsen provided a spark on the right side with 10 kills, while Westminster's setters kept the offense flowing and created quality looks. Mailei Myers added a big serving run in the second set, helping the Griffins build a 17–10 lead before Concordia's disciplined defense and steady play closed the door.

Concordia's Emma Wegleitner proved dominant on the outside, consistently finding seams through the block and keeping Westminster under pressure. Despite the 3–0 loss, the Griffins showed grit and proved they can hang with nationally ranked programs. The fight they displayed against Concordia will fuel their continued growth as the season progresses.

Looking Ahead
The Griffins continue play tomorrow at the Nighthawks Classic, opening with a 9:00 a.m. matchup against host Northwest Nazarene University. Westminster will then close out the day at 4:30 p.m. against Westmont College.
