Westminster opened RMAC play on Thursday night at Massari Arena but came up short in a 65–56 road loss to CSU Pueblo. The Griffins cut a double-digit deficit to single digits multiple times in the second half but were unable to fully erase a slow offensive start.
CSU Pueblo built a 34–21 halftime lead, holding Westminster to 26.92% shooting in the opening period and limiting the Griffins to 2–7 from three. Westminster responded with a stronger second half, shooting 44.00% from the field and scoring 35 points after the break, but the ThunderWolves matched key baskets late to protect their lead.
Colin Hayes led Westminster with 19 points on 6–10 shooting, adding 7 rebounds and hitting 6–11 at the free-throw line. Michael Fraizer contributed 11 points and 6 rebounds, going 4–8 from the floor and 2–5 from three. Cole Kadoguchi added 3 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Boston Painter and Mitch Jeppesen each scored 7 points off the bench.
Pueblo held a 46–37 rebounding edge and generated 24 points off turnovers, helping offset Westminster's 21 bench points and late push. The ThunderWolves finished with 39 points from their reserves and shot 18–27 from the foul line.
With the loss, Westminster falls to 5–2 overall and 0–1 in RMAC play, they continue the road trip Saturday, on the road against University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.
