SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster women's basketball picked up two strong wins over the weekend, defeating Alaska Fairbanks 99–74 on Friday and Texas A&M–Kingsville 54–46 on Saturday.
On Friday, the Griffins put together their best offensive outing of the season, shooting 55.3% from the field and scoring 99 points. Madison Anderson posted a 20-point, 11-rebound double-double, while Teuila Nawahine added 19 points, and Emily Evans finished with 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Westminster dominated the paint with 60 points inside and turned 35 points off turnovers to pull away.
Less than a day later, Westminster leaned on its defense to grind out a 54–46 win over TAMUK. Evans led with 16 points and 7 rebounds, Nisa Ellis added 9 points off the bench, and Anderson contributed 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Nawahine tallied 9 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals as the Griffins forced 16 turnovers and turned them into 22 points.
Westminster improves to 2–2, winning both games of the home weekend behind balanced scoring and strong defensive stretches.
