GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Westminster Volleyball made history Thursday night, earning its first-ever win at Colorado Mesa with a 3–1 victory inside Brownson Arena. The Griffins took the match by set scores of 25–22, 19–25, 25–19, 25–22, improving to 12–7 overall and 5–4 in RMAC play.
Westminster finished the night with 48 kills and hit .167 as a team while holding Colorado Mesa to 56 kills on .255 hitting. The Griffins also tallied 11 aces, 10 blocks, and 61 digs in the win.
Josie Gerritsen led the way offensively with 13 kills, while Breegan Huntsman added 11 and Mailei Myers followed with 10. From the service line, Mary Fonoimoana recorded a match-high five aces, with Leila Cornejo and Ava Livolsi each adding two.
At the net, Myers posted seven blocks, while Gerritsen and Hailey Killett each contributed three. Cornejo paced the offense with 22 assists, followed by Gerritsen with nine and Atley Mitchell with eight.
Defensively, Gerritsen also led the Griffins with 13 digs, joined by Huntsman (10) and Fonoimoana (9) as Westminster outdug the Mavericks 61–60 to seal the program's milestone road victory.
The Griffins continue their road trip on Saturday at Colorado School of Mines.
