Kingsville, TX – The Westminster Griffins Volleyball team kicked off their 2024 season with two matches on Friday inside the Steinke Center. The Griffins opened the day with a hard-fought four-set win over Southern Nazarene University, followed by a competitive three-set loss to Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
While stats for the first match are still being updated, the Griffins showcased strong performances throughout both matches, highlighted by a resilient offense and standout individual efforts.
"Liked how we opened play winning our first match vs Southern Naz. We served and passed well," said head coach Sue Dulaney. "We Bounced back after losing the first set which showed our mental toughness. TAMUK had some of the best middles we've ever faced which for us was a great learning opportunity."

In their first match of the season, Westminster took control early, winning in four sets against Southern Nazarene. The team displayed strong offensive execution and impressive teamwork to secure their first victory of the year.

In the second match of the day, the Griffins faced a tough challenge against Texas A&M-Kingsville, falling in three sets. Despite the loss, Westminster had several players who contributed with key performances.
