Griffins Fall To Rangers In Semi-Finals

Denver, COLO. – The 2024 Women's Lacrosse RMAC Tournament began on Friday night at Regis Match Pitch, pitting the fourth-seeded Westminster Griffins against the top-seeded hosts, Regis University. Despite a valiant effort from the Griffins, it was the top-ranked Rangers who emerged victorious, advancing to the RMAC Championship with a commanding 17-3 win over Westminster University.

The game got off to a with the Griffins, who quickly equalized the score at 1-1 after Olivia Petroksy's early goal in the first quarter. However, Regis responded swiftly, with three consecutive goals before Hannah Kellenher managed to find the back of the net for the Griffins.

In the second quarter, the Rangers capitalized on their momentum, embarking on a relentless 7-0 scoring run to establish a commanding lead heading into halftime.

As the teams returned to the field after halftime, Regis continued their offensive scoring, netting two quick goals to extend their lead even further, while shutting out the Griffins once again in the third quarter.

The final quarter saw the Griffins break their scoring drought, with Jordan Williamson finding the back of the net in a MAN-UP situation late in the game. However, it wasn't enough to overcome the Rangers' formidable lead.

Despite the loss, the Griffins demonstrated their defensive prowess, causing 10 turnovers and scooping up 17 ground balls, while maintaining a solid 15-21 on Clears. With their season coming to an end, Westminster concludes with a 6-8 overall record in the regular season and a 5-5 record in RMAC play, having advanced to the conference tournament.
