Salt Lake City, UT - On Saturday afternoon, the Westminster Griffins women's soccer team faced off against the Nighthawks in a closely contested match. Despite a late goal by
Alex Hoffman in the second half, the Griffins couldn't secure the win and ultimately fell to Northwest Nazarene University with a final score of 2-1.
Northwest Nazarene University managed to breach Westminster's defense, with Carolyn Moravec scoring the opening goal of the game, giving the visiting team a 1-0 lead at halftime. Westminster's goalkeeper, Mashaun Estridge, made four crucial saves in the game.
In the second half, the Nighthawks extended their lead when Nicole Lewis sent a high ball into the back of the net, making it 2-0. Despite the deficit, Westminster continued to fight, and Alex Hoffman's late goal added a glimmer of hope.
Westminster had six shots on goal throughout the match but couldn't find the equalizer in the closing moments.
