However, it was a hard-fought battle in the fifth set that truly tested their mettle. Ultimately, Purdue University Northwest emerged victorious in Salt Lake City, as the first full day of the tournament came to a close.
Olivia Curtis emerged as the team's standout performer, leading in kills with an impressive total of 15. She was one of four players who achieved double-digit figures on the stat sheet, showcasing the Griffins' well-rounded offensive capabilities. Regan Jackson, Emma Reardon, and Mailei Myers joined Curtis with double-digit kills on the night.
Defensively, Alanna Lee played a pivotal role, amassing 23 digs and contributing 3 aces. Leila Cornejo took charge as the team's leader in assists, facilitating the offensive plays.
The tournament's action is set to continue tomorrow, commencing at 8 AM. The Griffins are determined to bounce back in their upcoming matches, facing Oklahoma Christian University at noon and University of Nebraska at Kearney at 6:00 PM.
