Griffins comeback falls short at Fort Lewis

Hunter Doyle leads the team with four goals scored

DURANGO, Colo. – With 3:05 left to play in regulation, it was Hunter Doyle who scored for the Griffins to put them on top 13-12, but back-to-back goals by the Skyhawks crushed Griffin's comeback hopes in a 14-13 defeat.

The Westminster Women's Lacrosse team had a 4-2 lead in the second quarter of play after Lauren Shoughro goal, but Fort Lewis College scored seven straight goals and took control throughout the second half. Four straight goals by the Griffins to end the third and begin the fourth helped spark the comeback journey at Fort Lewis.

Six different Griffins hit the back of the net for Westminster with four players adding two goals each.

The sophomore Gabriella Cheminant stood tall in the cage making some big saves, 14  of them to be exact to help the Griffins keep it close in the second half.

UP NEXT: Westminster will be back in Salt Lake City, UT as they welcome Regis University on April, 21. T he first draw is scheduled for 7:00 PM (MDT) on Dumke Field with tickets on sale now and you can watch all of the action on the RMAC Network.
