Salt Lake City, UT - With six minutes remaining left to play in regulation, a lighting delay sent the teams into the locker room as the Griffins were holding onto a one goal lead. After close to an hour delay, the teams returned to the field where
Lauren Shoughro scored one of her nine goals on the night as the Westminster Women's Lacrosse team defeated
Colorado State University Pueblo (CSU-P) 21-18 to secure their first conference win of the season.
The Griffins started with great energy scoring five straight goals in the first quarter, though the Thunderwolves withstood the Griffins fast start to make it a back and forth contest for the remainder of the game. CSU-P got their first lead 11-10 in the third quarter until
Lauren Shoughro scored back-to-back goals in the fourth and the Griffins never lost the lead again.
Shaina Shoughro made her home debut scoring four goals. Paige Runia, Hannah Kellenher and Hunter Doyle each added two a piece, with
Celia Fidanza and Maddie Kellenher contributing one each.
