Las Vegas, NM - The Westminster Griffins Women's Volleyball team continued their impressive performance by extending their winning streak to four games with a decisive three-set win against New Mexico Highlands University on a thrilling Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins, led by the dynamic Breegan Huntsman, maintained their upper hand in the historical rivalry against New Mexico Highlands, holding a series lead of 5-2 and securing victory in the last four encounters.
The game began with a closely contested first set, which the Griffins claimed with a score of 25-22, setting the tone for the match. In the second set, the Griffins once again demonstrated their prowess, winning 25-20. However, New Mexico Highlands responded strongly by winning the third set with a score of 25-21, keeping the game interesting.
Yet, the Griffins regained their dominance in the fourth set, concluding the match with a resounding 25-15 victory.
The offensive power of the Griffins was highlighted by the exceptional performance of Breegan Huntsman, who delivered a game-high 15 kills, displaying her versatility and impact on the team.
Additional contributions came from Olivia Curtis with 13 kills and Regan Jackson with 10. In the defensive department, Abby Reardon showcased her skills by accumulating 13 crucial digs, with Leila Cornejo and Huntsman contributing 10 each.
The Griffins, with their eyes set on securing a spot in the RMAC Tournament, are gearing up for their final regular season game at home. They will host South Dakota Mines on November 10, with tickets available for purchase.
