Salt Lake City, UT - For the second time this season, the Westminster Men's Basketball team has shocked the RMAC and upset a top-ranked team, on Tuesday night it was Colorado Mesa who fell to the Griffins 70-63 inside
Behnken Field House.
Colorado Mesa's entered Salt Lake City with a 10-game winning streak, but as the night came to a close it was the Griffins who stopped that streak and gave the Mavericks their first loss since December third and it was the first loss of the new year.
The home court advantage has been real to the Westminster Men's basketball team this season, after coming away with their first road win of the season last weekend, Tuesday night was just another night of hoops for the Griffins at home as they captured their sixth home win of the season.
In a game with nine lead changes on the night, the Griffins led at halftime 28-26 as they shot the ball well with 50% from the field, including one three-point made shot in the half.
Trey Farrer lead the way with his 19 points, and 11 rebounds for his double-double on the night as the Griffins continue to move up the RMAC standings.
Pierce Sterling was the second-leading scorer with points 15,
Lewis Johnson had 12 and
Taylor Miller had 10 as four different Westminster players ended the night in double-digits on the score sheet.
UP NEXT: The Griffins will get one day off before returning to the court on Thursday, Jan. 28 vs
Western Colorado University. Tip-off will be at 7:00 PM MDT. The game will be available for free on the RMAC Network (rmacnetwork.com) or the RMAC Network streaming app as Westminster continues its chase up the RMAC standings.
