Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Avery Alger leads the way in game one win as Griffins split 1-1 Saturday night

Lacey, WA - It's day two in Washington for the Westminster Griffins Volleyball team and it starts out with a victory! The Griffins were able to win sets 1.3 and 4 as they defeated Adelphi University in their first game of two of the day.

Avery Alger led the way with 13 kills in the win, as Malinda Messer and Mailei Myers both added nine of their own.

One of the keys to victory was the success the Griffins had with their aces, Leila Conejo had four, Emma Reardon had three and Lyida Miller had two.

Conejo also had 33 assists and 13 digs to lead Westminster in those stats in the win.

The second game of the day saw the Griffins battle with the host school of the tournament weekend of Saint Martin's University who defeated the Griffins in three sets.

Lydia Miller had eight kills to lead the Griffins on the offensive end of the floor followed by Malina Messner with seven and Mailei Myers with six.

Once again aces were a plus for Westminster as Myers had two of the five total and Leila Cornejo led the way with 26 assists.

It was a great weekend in Washington for the Griffins as they now turn their attention to the RMAC schedule and the first up is a road trip to Grand Junction, CO vs Colorado Mesa.
