Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball captures second straight win, vs the Grizzlies in Alamosa

Alamosa, CO - Lydia Parkinson (Miller) was the leader on the night with 19 kills and she set up Mailei Myers for the game-winning kill in a thrilling five-set victory as the Westminster Griffins defeat Adams State Grizzlies 17-15 in set five.

"Huge team effort against a hostile crowd," said head coach Sue Dulaney. "Having to play a 5 setter last night then travel 4 hours to our next opponent, and play another 5 sets is a sign this team is hungry."

The first and second sets were very similar which include both set victories in a 25-23 win, but set three and four went to the Grizzlies as the two teams went toe to toe after five sets in a conference battle.

Parkinson (Miller) led the team in kills as Leila Cornejo led the way in assists on the night on the offensive end for the defensive side of the floor Alanna Lee led the way with digs to help the Griffins capture the second straight win in the RMAC and coach Dulaney once again was proud of the effort that was on the floor.

"Our defense showed up and Lee had 2 big back-to-back nights with 28 digs last night and 32 tonight. We had 8 blocks in the second set and finished with 2.67 blocks/ set, a crazy good stat."

Emma Reardon had 13 kills, Myers had 10 as the Griffins defeated the Grizzlies 6-3 on service aces and 11-6 on block solo's on the defensive end of the floor and now the Griffins turn their attention to returning back home on their home floor and head coach Dulaney is excited to be back home.

"We're excited to finally be home after 4 weekends on the road. I'm proud of their heart, warrior attitude, and our bench energy."
